What do you guys think about it?
Rumors of a Charmed reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Friday (February 20) as reports claimed that The WB confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2016.
UPDATE 21/02/2015 : This story seems to be false. (read more)
Can you believe it's been 16 years since Charmed first aired?! (16 years, 4 months, 14 days to be exact.)
Why in the world did Charmed end?
When Charmed came to an end after 8 years in May 2006, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano), Piper Halliwell (Holly Marie Combs), Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan) and Prue Halliwell (Shannen Doherty). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would a Charmed reunion disappoint people?
Charmed aired from 1998-2006 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Milano said she's not sure if Charmed would work today. “I don't want to see old Phoebe Halliwell,” she told a journalist (Milano turned 42 in December). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.
Still hoping for a Charmed movie?
In a recent interview, Marnette Patterson (who played Christy Jenkins in 2006) said she can't imagine a Charmed reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Alyssa Milano has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Charmed movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a Charmed film, Jason Lewis stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about a Charmed reboot?
Recasting Charmed for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of a Charmed reunion, a Charmed movie, or a Charmed reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
